What is TEF?

Testing and Experimentation Facilities (TEFs) are part of the implementation instruments outlined in the AI-Act and help providers to accelerate and de-risk market readiness of their solutions by offering support such as:

  • Secure testing environments for AI-based products
  • Technical and scientific support for validation
  • Guidance on regulatory compliance, including the EU AI Act
  • Access to experts and accredited laboratories

Four sectorial TEFs have been established under the Digital Europe program for EU SMEs and startups:
