Newsweek ranking: Charité is Europe’s best hospital

In the Newsweek rankings of the world’s best hospitals (conducted in conjunction with consumer data company Statista), Charité came fifth out of a total of 1,000.

In addition to moving up one position in the global rankings, this result confirmed Charité’s status as the best hospital in Europe. The Newsweek rankings placed a particular focus on the continued ability to deliver the highest-quality patient care and to conduct critical medical research under extremely challenging conditions.

Two other European hospitals made the top ten: France’s Hôpital Universitaire Pitié Salpêtrière came seventh, and Sweden's Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset came eighth. Leading the rankings at number 1 is the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA. Performance indicators taken into account included recommendations from medical professionals and hospital staff as well as patient survey results.
